About Me

My Creative Journey

My History As A Creator

The earliest that I can remember drawing or creating anything was age 4.  I didn't have a lot of drawing tools when I was young.  I usually got two boxes of crayons at the beginning of the school year.  One for school, and one for home use, and I had to make it last because I wasn't going to get another box.  Every once in awhile I would come across some markers or colored pencils that a friend from school would give me. I usually only had regular College ruled paper to draw on which was a bummer.  Every once in awhile I would get my hands on some typing paper from somewhere and then I would REALLY get down!

Creating is what I was created to do by my Creator.  I have to do it.  If I don't have any paper or cardboard, I'm drawing on something.  In my school books, even on the floor!  One day I decided to draw with a blue PERMANENT Sharpie on the floor.  That almost ended VERY badly for me!  Luckily, my sisters acted quickly to get it up off the floor before my mother saw it.

On the subject of my sisters, my oldest sister also could draw very well.  She used to bring home these huge sketch book from Junior High school and fill them up with sketches of cartoon characters.

There used to be a book series called "Draw 50" where it would be a step-by-step tutorial on how to draw dinosaurs, animals, automobiles, cartoons characters and even famous people.  She would draw ALL of those thing and hang the picture on her closet door.  That always inspired me to work harder to get to her level.

It also inspired our upstairs neighbors whom we were close friends with at the time.  One of them still credits her today for his love of art.  That goes to show you that you never know how you can influence someone for the good.  Even if you don't realize it.

I didn't stop at drawing.  If we didn't have money to buy me new toys, I would make them out of stuff laying around the house.  Construction paper, cardboard, plastic tubes, hangers, anything that was disposable or was gonna be tossed out, I would find a way to make something out of it.

My History As A Creator (CONT.)

As I got older and into Junior High, I started to get better at art. I started getting better art supplies as well.  Now, with my allowance, I was able to get those huge sketch books my sister used to get.  Some of my best friends that I still have today I met in Junior High, mostly because of common interests.  We would draw funny comics based on stuff we had seen on television and then put our classmates into those comics.  Usually getting eaten by a monster, or some other unfortunate, yet hilariously entertaining circumstance.

Once I got to High School, that is when I started to get introduced on digital design on computers.  We could never afford a computer, but once I started using Corel Draw in the library during study hall, I would make all kinds of things on the computer.  I only had a mouse, but I was still able to make some decent looking artwork.  Once I graduated I knew I had to get a PC.  I got my first one in 1998.  I got Corel Draw 8 for it (I still have that disc.)  That was fun for awhile, but then a few years later, I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop.  That was a game changer.

The next few years I got involved in the online art scene.  Posting my art on site like DeviantArt, and even getting my own website.  In 2010, I visit my first comic-con which was C2E2.  The following year, I exhibited for the first time at a comic-con.  I have attended several conventions over the years such as Wizard World (Fan Expo,) Anime Central, Milwaukee Comic Con, Madison Comic Con, Comicverse, Midwest Gaming Classic, and Anime 414.  I don't really do cons so much anymore.

These days I just draw and create because I need to.  This page it dedicated to showing what my creations are to the world.
